Hello everybody I am new to this site.
Hi mon31679 have never heard of it before, but lm sure others have. I can at least welcome you tho.
High dose biotin? Nope. I'm not familiar. Is there a study you read or a physician recommendation for it?
I've not heard of that, but I take biotin, B Complex, B6, B12 andD3. I have fantastic energy and just a few exacerbation a year. Go for it.
There is a great FB group for people taking high doses of Biotin for progressive MS. You should be able to find it by just searching for Biotin/MS. Everyone shares there experiences there and whether or not it has helped them in any way and what the side effects are. Highly recommend it
I heard about Biotin research for MS from a friend. He has progressive MS and heard about it from his doctor in France. He is taking high dose Biotin now even though he is not part of the study. His doctor and mine said that it can't hurt. He's been on this high dose for about six months (I don't remember the dosage), but hasn't seen an improvement yet. I take Biotin myself, but I take only 10K mcg twice a day. Mainly I take it for my nails. My neurologist takes it for her hair.
Mon31679, hello and welcome from Fancy1959 to this wonderful chat room. I was reading about natural therapies and MS several months ago in an MS magazine about current research and new therapies coming on the market. It was one of the topics that was being investigated. They were researching large doses of pure Biotin, not the encapsulated type I've taken for years and the effect it has on MS. The overall gist of the article was although initial findings were very promising, additional research was needed. I don't remember if actual dosage amounts were discussed in the article. Since it is still being tested my guess is no amount was given I personally take a dose of 10,000mg every day of Biotin. Not much information, but I hope it helps. It was very nice to meet you. Please keep in touch. And remember together we are stronger!
I did for a while. But it really didn't do much.
Hi @mon31679, I see this post is from a few months ago, I am new to the site. I have been taking Biotin for almost a year, about 6 months ago my Dr recommended increasing the dosage to 100mg (milligrams) 3 times a day. Biotin is available over the counter but to get it in a concentrated form so I did not need to take 20+ capsules a day I had to go to a compounding pharmacy. I recommend taking this, I believe I have seen some real improvement in my strength and endurance. I have SPMS.
There seems to be some confusion about dosage amounts because of the milligram/microgram issue; 100 milligrams(mg) equals 100,000 micrograms(mcg).
Good luck!
