Hi, still kinda new to group. What kind of shoes , brand names do you recommend? My feet are numb & tingling, at times feel like they are encased in blocks of ice. Most of the shoes I have seem to make the symptoms worse. Lynn

CalfeeChick are you wearing braces on your feet to help support them? You will find all kinds of brands to wear that ppl love. My go to brand are Skecher sports, they fit my braces well and have a great tread for the snow, and they don't fall apart quickly.

Thank you.. No Braces, just very uncomfortable numbness/tingling that gets worse with putting on shoes. Will check out the skechers store, with fall here, I know my days of bare foot and only 1 pair of shoes I can where for a short time are limited.

Hi CalfeChick I wear SAS shoes and have for about 10 years. You can look them up on line at sasshoes.com They have some that are very stable. Good luck!

@CalfeeChick, shoes are very important. But if you're like many of us, you like to be stylish. I had to give up on my notions about looking fashionable as the MS settled in, which was over 30 years ago. I gave up on attractive shoes and settled for shoes that were comfortable, supportive, and not too hopelessly ugly. As a diabetic I get diabetic shoes prescribed by a podiatrist and purchased at special stores that carry them. But EasySpirit often has sensible shoes, and another brand I've had good luck with is ProPet. You might not like the look of them but they provide pretty good arch support. I've found that a lightweight shoe is best, but many shoes aren't very lightweight. For years I wore only canvas sneakers because they were so lightweight. As time went on, though, I needed more arch support, and shifting from the sneakers to the kind of shoes ProPet puts out (or Easy Spirit) has helped to solve some problems with foot and back pain.

SANDALS, SANDALS, SANDALS!!! I can hardly stand to wear closed shoes anymore and practically live in sandals year-round. Gets a bit tough in the winter here, but it was SOOO easy back in Arizona!

If you have to wear closed shoes, Sketchers and Clarks are great and don't look like Frankenstein shoes!

Good luck!

I wear Skechers they are light and comfortable. They are cheaper at kolhs or Ross. If you find a pair and there are several pairs pick up several if you like that style because you won't see that style again.

Thanks for suggestions. They are both closer for me..

I like new balance 990 running shoes. Light and comfortable to me. They are expensive about $160.00 per pair

I agree with agate - I try to find shoes that are comfortable, supportive, and not "too ugly" I have found that Clarks, Easy Spirit, etc. are good. But they can be expensive. I have found a few pair at Ross or Marshalls. I have also bought several inserts at Walmart (Dr. Scholl's type). I can put these in some less expensive shoes and they usually have enough support (Bob or Tom's type shoes). I recently purchased some Bob's that were weaved instead of canvas. They are VERY comfortable and not too tight on my feet. I'll be investing in another pair (or 2) of these. Good luck!

I went shopping yesterday and wound up getting 1pr of Skechers and 4 PRs of nicely cushioned Isotoner slippers. Even the softest socks seem to aggravate the numbness and turn my feet to feeling like lead weights. At least I'll have something to put on my feet. We have a store in town that carries Clarks. Hope to check them out soon. I'm not able to drive yet. Maybe soon. Thanks for the info. Lynn

I have to drop, and other issues with my feet. 5 years of trying different shoes. I have found Altra Olympus are the best. Wide foot bed and an zero heel to toe drop. Wonderful flat sneakers with great grip a super naturel feel. They help so much. MS Therapist and my Nero recommend them on 3rd pair. $$$ but so worth it, last very long time. I use to go thru 4 pairs a year, just plain wore them out from ms, now I get a year plus out of these for less then buying 4 pairs a year.
