I have had very thin for years due to asthma meds,in the past few years I have tripped over the prop pavement and my handbag resulting in deep wounds needing nurses dressings at clinics. My are have been thin longer as a young women I used a lot of steroid cream for a skin condition, not as bad as legs but bruise bleed and hurt to touch.I saw a dermatoligist a couple of years ago who said take vit C every day and wear protective covers,my blood is a little slow to clot ,only a half less or do thing butvdiesentbmattdr he said . I look like I’m on Warfarin..5 days a go on holiday in Wales with big family out for a meal , I fell over my bag, wham on the floor cut below knee to above ankle a few inches in an oval line bled a lot thin blood..worse one yet. Daughter a nurse patched it up .home Monday went to clinic who sent me to Aand E..the black skin was dead had to have it removed anti biopics for infection,I have a bandage from knee to toes , very painful.any ideas on what I can take or do , I use lots of cream .this has shocked me .I was 80 a few days ago. My 98 year old mother has better skin than me.

I’m 60 and my 78yr old mother has better skin than me as well. Triamcinolone was the evil thin skinning culprit for me. It’s so embarrassing when someone stops me and says “Ma’am, your arm is bleeding pretty bad.” or suddenly I feel that familiar wetness and know it’s broken open, again.

Primary care, dermatologist, allergist, rheumatologist, etc..

Injections, pills, creams, sprays, ointments, oils, soaps, etc..

Trials of many things. Still trying and hopeful.

In addition to staying very moisturized, protecting skin and preventing tears (or tears, get those too) is my goal. Slow purposeful movements and extra careful around counters, doorways and cabinets. I wear protective cotton arm sleeves when I’m out. I have several colors. My arms and ankles are very discolored and some area is always in a state of healing. Arms have extreme crepe paper appearance.

You sound like an interesting person. I live with my 78 yrs young Mom. She is amazing and I’m so blessed to be her daughter. Hope today is a good day for you!🫧

Hello,we sound very similar,Thankyou for answering me.I am feel more cheerful ,I have finished the antibiotics.am on pain killers co -codamol and paraceatamol, I have cut them down now ,the hospital I went to last Monday think it’s doing okay, but it’s so big 9and a half inches long .but I am told it will heal. I had to get a wheel chair for going for treatment ,my mum who is 98in 12 days has had one years and I now really admire her more as they are not good to be in . I have been researching for a group for preventing falls and balance for when I am healed . I already do a smile class chair excuses for seniors or younger who need them run by life lesure 3pound50p and the fall one is free for 6months . I have sent an email to see if there is a waiting list so I can go on it now . There is one about a mile from me.trying to be proactive. I am also going to phone my doctor to see if I can chance any asthma meds to ones that aren’t as agressave,I use Durnatuff arm and led protectors , they are the best .I’ve tried every one they make. do look them up,I am lucky it’s only the past few years it’s been so bad and I have a lovely family of four daughters who help ,we all look after my mum together with afew grown up granddaughters.Thankyou for your good advice I do need to slow down, and I wish you well.xx
