Palmoplantar psoriasis help

Hi everyone. I’m new to this group but not to Health Unlocked. I have had problems with the skin on the soles of my feet for a few years - very itchy and hot, scratching in my sleep, cracked/ peeling skin. I’ve seen doctors and dermatologist galore who couldn’t seem to decide what it was but I’ve finally been given a diagnosis of palmoplantar psoriasis. If anyone with this condition has any advice how to treat it or had tried anything which has cleared it up or even improved it slightly I’d really appreciate the suggestions.

Over the last 3-4 years I have tried every cream, ointment, steroid and moisturiser known to man and nothing seems to help. I had light therapy (PUVA with oral psoralen) in 2018 which did help but 10 weeks of treatment only cleared my skin for about a month which; given the time, effort and disruption to get the treatment, really wasn’t worth it. I also tried UVB treatment last year but this made no difference at all. At the moment the itch is driving me crazy and the only way I can get rid of it is to put my feet directly under the cold tap in my bath!

Thanks

Have you tried taking a Neem supplement? If not, you might want to look into it. Available on Amazon for $6. There are also Neem creams that might help if you don’t want to ingest something.

Thanks. I have no idea what Neem is but I will check it out and hope Amazon UK had it.

Oh my darling I feel your pain. I tend to get pomphylx eczema on the soles of my feet and it's itchy while the tiny blisters are on site then painful as they dry out and skin cracks, but at least they respond to corticosteroid treatment.

Hi Rock Princess,

I know what you are going through as I have the same problem but mine is on the palms of both hands. I have always has pustular psoriasis, which started on my scalp then disappeared after a few years. It re-emerged on my hands as little puss filled blisters which only lasted a few days, didn't really bother me too much and would soon disappear. However, within the past few weeks for whatever reason, big patches of psoriasis have suddenly appeared and they are driving me crazy. The scaly thick skin is broken and cracked and both hands ooze blood. The itching is way beyond irritating and I am forever trying to scratch them which just makes things worse. I have taken to wearing white cotton gloves in bed after putting on my cream and my wife says it's like sleeping with Michael Jackson!

I have three creams/lotions I use which you probably have too..

E45 Lotion which takes the heat out of things for while

Sudacrem which works a bit like Polyfilla and fills in the cracks and is also antiseptic

Daktakort which contains hydrocortizone but cant be used on broken skin

They help ease things a little but being on the palms of my hands, every time I flex my hands doing anything at all, the cracks just open back up and I back to square one. You have had much more treatment than I have and I am sorry that even UV didn't work for you which is depressing as I thought that might be an option for me somewhere along the line. I hope you find something soon to make life easier and if you do..would you please let me know!
