Red itchy skin

My husband has been suffering for several month now from an itchy skin condition that varies location wise. It’s all over his back and arms and also many times on his buttocks and groin area. It’s extremely itchy and he scratches all the time. I have been applying creams prescribed by doctors for months now but it doesn’t seem to improve. He has seen dermatologists and blood work done. Now he started doing photo synthesis treatments. So far nothing has come back diagnosing him with some cause. I wonder if anybody has a glue what this could be.

I don’t know if I can be of much help, but I certainly have sympathy. My skin problems have been hard to figure out, too. I try to keep good notes for myself on what is happening and where and when and what treatments I have tried, and I kept trying different doctors until I found something that helped (for a while, anyway, now I need to try something else). They all have different ideas so don’t give up!

oh no, sounds awful.

Has anything changed in his diet? Sometimes sensitivities come up as skin problems. Changes can take up to 6 weeks to show. Even small things like normal groceries have changed their preservative. How about the environment? Laundry powder? Bedding? Body wash? Lotion? All those can cause sensitivities and sometimes it can just develop randomly, so you may not know until you change something. Even stuff in creams can cause a sensitivity over time. You could try changing something and give it a week to see the effects. Food changes can take up to a month for changes to be noticed.

just some thoughts xx

Hi, have they done a biopsy yet and what bloods have they done?

I have found that creams can sometimes help but without knowing what the cause is you are fighting an uphill battle.

The only way to start to get anywhere near a diagnosis is to keep a diary and photo's if possible, then it's down to bloods and biopsies along with any family history that may shed some light on things.

Hope you find the answers soon but don't worry if it's some time before you get there. X
