Hi I'm a suffer from eczema too, had it from birth, was told it'd go when I was 7,14,and then at 21.im now 51and tried all sorts of treatment. Hydrocortisone at 1% isn't overly strong but we're talking about baby skin. So the best I can offer is this. Dress in cotton and not nylon or wool as it irritates skin. Don't use soap use emollient for both soap and after bathing. Water should be cool and not too warm as this irritates skin. Keep skin moisturised as much as you can with skin kind products. If you can let skin breath as much as possible and sun get to skin (obviously not hot direct sunlight). You'll find you'll use less of the hydrocortisone as flare ups will lessen. Some try keeping diaries of what food your trying baby on. Is there a particular food that makes the skin flare up? Generally it's just keeping baby cool and letting skin breath whilst ensuring that you keep rubbing emollient cream on. O and the other thing of course is washing powder. That can also irritate skin. Hope that helps and that your baby grows out of the condition.
