Menopausal Acne

Hello!

I have recently hit the menopause and for some reason I have horrendous acne - I never had skin problems as a teenager and I feel I shouldn't have to wear this much make-up to cover it up!

Is this normal?

Does anyone have any suggestions for solutions?

I am finding it really embarrassing!

Thank you for any replies you may give me!

Hi, I have a pet theory about hormonal change and skin issues. Classically acne develops in teens at puberty during hormonal change. I have had eczema since I was a baby but the worst flare ups occurred (1) after the birth of my daughter (2) during menopause triggered by hormonal therapy as adjuvant breast cancer treatment. I am now on letrozole which removes all oestrogen from the body and initially my skin almost went into meltdown, but a year or so on it has calmed down enough to manage fairly well. There does not seem to be a huge amount of research into this or possible solutions!

Your situation is not unusual. Hormonal changes can trigger acne. Any standard treatment option should help lesson the acne. Try over the counter products or see a dermatologist.

However, hormones may trigger acne they are not the underlying cause. The problem with products or even medical treatment is that are only addressing the symptoms and not the causes. When you have a bad outbreak the relief is appreciated , so I would try those approaches.

But a holistic approach is really the only way to actually cure acne. Plus such an approach will help not only the acne but many other health issues as well. You may find this website helpful on that front: <a href="thetruthaboutacne.net/">www....

Since having diabetics. My skin has got spotty. Then I discovered aloe Vera. This has helped me in many ways. When my skin got really red and spotty on my face. I began to use the aloe soap and really cleaned my face. When I was given the propolis cream this is when I found a difference in my face. Since it contains bee propolis it is a natural antibiotic. Well I kept using this and the difference this has made. I am 57 Brilliant product. Check my profile
