I was also wondering about this app/program. I've seen several ads for it. I'm not sure my health insurance would cover the cost, which is why I haven't looked into it further.

What are your impressions of it so far? Hopefully you can update the group if you feel it is a good resource for people trying to overcome their OCD.

Yes! I've had the app for about a year but realized I needed more help for my OCD so I finally bit the bullet and made an appointment with one of the therapists. It's out-of-network for me so I'm paying for it myself, but I was desperate. I've had two appointments so far and it's helped me more than anything else in my 38 years dealing with OCD! I hope they're able to help your son! Do you know if they take his insurance? If so then I highly recommend making an appt with a therapist. They also have support groups via Zoom for all different types of OCD on different days of the week.

I'm doing it right now. I'm not sure what you want to know about it. But I have some thoughts about it. I came into NOCD after having a few sessions with a "regular" therapist. I'm not really sure what I mean by regular, but it was someone I found who was local and treated OCD. I wasn't really having any success with them, so I tried NOCD because I remember hearing about it in a podcast.

I don't really have anything negative to say about it. Here are the good things.

There are a wide variety of therapists who are familiar with different types of obsessions. So not only will you get someone who understands OCD, but you're likely to get someone who is familiar with your particular obsessions.

I don't know if you can use the app features for free, but if you are a client it has a way to track your obsessions and exposures. You can even start your exposure in the app and it has a timer while you're doing it, so you can stop the exposure when you're done.

Again, I think the biggest benefit is just being able to get someone who understands OCD. The first therapist I saw understood OCD but I don't think he treated it very much. It can actually be hard to find a therapist who is an OCD expert. From what I've learned, it isn't something that is even covered very much in college classes, which is scary because a lot of therapists have almost no familiarity with it.

Hi Yellow4life, I haven't used the app but I started seeing a therapist 3 weeks ago. They seem to have to follow a protocol where the first 3 sessions is about "education", which for me I felt was a waste of time and $. At times she was actually just READING me research. I start my 4th session this week and I'm hopeful that it will start going better?? I will let you know how it goes😀
