I'm worried about the effects of menopause and the cancer on my body and mind and hope to combat it with a healthy diet
Can anyone recommend a nutritionist? O... - My Cancer Community
Can anyone recommend a nutritionist? Or where to get advise on diet as I have just had a full hysterectomy & diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Hi Mitch11
The Chef Jane Sen has some good quality Cancer Lifeline Recipes out, which you can in book or card form online......I think either through the Penny Brohn Shop or through a site called Healthcreation (advice and alternative help offered by Dr Rosy Daniel). They are probably on Amazon as well. It's not just diet that will help you, lifestyle change is the key, and how you deal with stress in life, how you feel about yourself and your relationships. On the Healthcreation site you will find a 'Picture of Health' chart which is an holisitic self-assessment you can take to find out which parts of your life are depleted, and need attention. I would also recommend attending the Living Well Courses now being rolled out around the country by the Penny Brohn Centre.
Blessings, all the best with your Cancer Journey...........
Penny
Hello Penny, thank you for your advice. I am interested in the attending the living well course! Can you advice the next available and how I can register? Many thanks
Hello Mitch11,
You can book online through the 'Living Well' page on our website: pennybrohncancercare.org/li...
Or you can contact the bookings team on 01275 370 111, or by email at bookings@pennybrohn.org.
All the best.
Hello again, the best place for advice is to ask the bookings office at the Penny Brohn Centre.......they can tell you where and when the courses are running in your area.
Hi Mitch 11
I suggest you look on BANT's website (the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy) bant.org.uk they have a "find a local practitioner" search facility which could help you find a competent practising Nutritional Therapist in your area.
that's ok, you might want to 'shop around' a bit, phone up and ask practitioners to tell you a bit about their approach, how long they have been practicing, what their experience is in working with people with cancer, what additional costs there might be - e.g. fees for testing, etc. A good practitioner would normally be willing to have a brief conversation with you before expecting you to invest time and money in coming to see them.
Thanks for that! you are not in the bristol area are you?if not Could you recommend one in the Bristol area? As it would be great to see someone recommended.
Hi Mitch 11, I am a nutritionist who specialises in cancer and I am retired so work free of charge. I can advise you on here , by phone or email - which is probably best if you want a large attachment sent. I do hope you find the support you are looking for. Good luck and good health. Dave
Hi Mitch11
I have cervical cancer. I have had a radical hysterectomy, followed later by radiotherapy and chemotherapy and I immediately went into full blown menopause. I am not keen on HRT although I wouldn't rule it out completely, my cancer specialist nurse told me about menopace its a herbal remedy you can get in boots. I get mine when its on offer 3 for 2, but it's only about £4 for a months supply, and it has worked for me 100% no more hot flushes, night sweats or mood swings, it doesnt work for everyone and you need to give it 3 months, but I would give it a go!
Hi Brocks, thanks for your message! Yes I will try them! Did you change your diet at all? To help increase your estrogen intake naturally?
Hi there, thanks. What way of eating do they suggest?
You can,t do better than Penny Brohn, good luck
