Just been diagnosed with opca, awaiting blood tests to determine type. Have a 24 year old daughter so hope it isn’t inherited! The consultant has strongly hinted he thinks it is MSA-C. Going to see him again on the 25th September for the results maybe. Was told it was plantar fasciitis !!

Hello, as always, welcome however, so sorry you need to be here. You mention OPCA which is quite a wide ranging group of conditions. There is some useful information about OPCA here rarediseases.org/rare-diseases/olivopontocerebellar-atrophy .

You mention the question of inheritance, all the research points to MSA not being an inherited condition albeit as you will see from the above article, some OPCA conditions are inherited.

I hope this helps,

Take care, Ian
