Hi I was wondering if anyone could help two weeks ago my dad (56) was complaining of back pain and he wanted us to phone the ambulance so we did and then he was complaining that he couldn't breath properly he was calling us every 5/10 in the days leading up to the ambulance and since then he sleeps practically all day and night and only wakes to go the toilet or food but he's not eating much and has snacks in bed has anyone noticed this with their loved ones at all???

Hi Becca,It sounds like your Dad has something new and more acute going on. I think you should get in touch with his GP for a review.

(I’m a GP myself by the way! My Mum has MSA. )

All the best

Claire

I second that. Keep going till you've ruled everything out. Dad had a slightly slower decline than what your describing recently. We were all set to put it down to MSA, but then worked out it was a hidden infection. I never realised before how much simple things (even dehydration constipation etc) can knock somebody off balance once they reach an advanced stage of the condition. Best of luck! Kx

Agree too - MSA seems to respond to the smallest thing so its prudent to check for infection etc...did they do this at the hospital? Or it could be that he's just finding the situation very difficult, my mum gets extremely anxious and frustrated and is now on anti depressants which have helped. She does though sleep much more now.
