Excessive thirst

I seem to be very tired alot of the time and drink pints of soft drinks a day, this seems to have been going on before my diagnosis of ET which was 6 months ago. I am male aged 40.

Does anyone else suffer this or should I be looking away from my condition to something else.

stevenjust- excessive thirst is a symptom of diabetes which drinking soft drinks wont satisfy- you need to get your blood sugars tested urgently, cheets karteeka

I agree with karteeka's reply - do have a test for diabetes without delay. The tiredness could also be connected with diabetes - although many of us suffer from tiredness caused by our

MPD.

I agree with the other two posts. I have ET/MF. I was thirsty and had a very dry mouth also unusually tired. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 6 weeks ago. Play safe and get it checked. Good luck. (not medically qualified at any level!)

I also agree I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last year after not feeling very well. I wasn't sure if it was my ET playing up. So had loads of bloods done also I had my BMB done through going to see hem and explaining how I felt.

I got told within the month that I had Diabetes and MF. Still trying to get over the shock.

Don't want to scare you but go get checked out

Hi, I was diagnosed PMF and I have the same problem with excessive thirst as you. I do not have diabetes, so I suppose it is because of a lot of platelets. I have had this "problem" with thirst for many years, sometimes I am awaken during the nigt and I must drink 1-2 glasses of water. I do not think it is wrong besause I feel pretty well. 38yrs old female

Try to drink only water, minimum 2l/day . No soft drinks(coca cola, etc) or alcohol (bee, etc.) this could drying, instead of calming thirsty

I have ET and have had problems with thirst for years too. I have had many tests for blood sugar levels and thyroid and all have come back normal. I agree with the others that only water or diluted juices are good for this although I did find that drinking a powdered energy drink with potassium and magnesium was really effective but a bit expensive. Good luck.
