almost cramps

I sometimes get feelings in my lower legs that almost feel like cramps but not quite. They start behind my knee. It occurs only in the evening when sitting on the sofa, legs up. Muscles haven’t gone tight. . Usually helped by walking. I do also occasionally get terrible cramps often if dehydrated but this is different. I have ET on aspirin and peg. This symptom is not new but I was begining to wonder about it

My doc says low iron, due to phlebotomies. My hands and thighs and feet also cramp. But then they relax when I stretch and move in a different way. I've had PV for 3 yrs and take HU, 500 daily.

I would have a chat with your mpn care team with a blood test check in case there any supplements required. Also would try and drink more as it's easy to dehydrated even if sitting in a nice warm room. I drink less caffeine now and more herbal drinks.

Thanks for your replies. I don’t think it’s ferritin and not phlebotomies as I don’t have these. I will chat with MPN team when I see them end of January. I had sort of put it down to one of those things but beginning to wonder if it is significant and ET related

I drink water high in magnesium and eat a banana at night, ( one large or two little bananas.) I also have found wrapping my legs in a heated blanket helps .... Best Wishes

I can imagine the heated blanket would be helpful as warm hands help. I have tried magnesium but if anything it makes things worse. More real cramps. I almost wonder if this is a circulatory issue but the leg affected isn’t unduly warm or cool

it seems we all have “ interesting “ physical issues/pains, etc., with ET. I used to have a sensation in my calves that felt like little bubbles popping. Not cramping, but muscle twitches. I have dealt with cramping, but I take magnesium at night and always stretch my calves/legs before getting into bed. It has helped a lot! I also have liquid magnesium for times when a cramp at night shows up. So helpful. Run it on and cramp goes away quickly. I do believe more of us suffer with cramping or “ almost cramping” like you described when sitting in a chair with feet up. I am very hydrated, exercise and eat healthy, take supplements, etc… but still get these occasionally.
