I finally got hold of someone in the clinic today, explained I was concerned about the sudden appearance of blasts in my blood count, she said she would have a word with the consultant and phone me back.
Which she has just done, the consultant had seen the blood test results from the GP, he said he wasn’t concerned but would be checking in case there was an upward trend. He doesn’t want to repeat the blood tests yet, towards the end of the month for usual review. He said some MF patients sometimes get blasts in their blood but unless they increase he wouldn’t be worried.
However, of course, I am worried about progression and will have everything crossed until the next test result.

Please don’t get upset Lizziep,I often have blasts in my tests,no -one seems too worried about it in my med team. Inc consultant. There seems to be often things showing in our counts,we panic I know but it’s probably the same for those without an MPN who don’t have regular blood tests.Best wishes S
it sounds as if your consultant is on it, as far as I remember blasts are not uncommon with MF and again if I recall correctly they can come and go and the number of blasts can rise or fall, yours seemed low if I recall accurately, and yes it’s always the trend to pay attention to as opposed to one or two tests, it’s understandable we get a bit jumpy when we see on test results we don’t like, we all do it.
Thank you, my other counts haven’t really changed including white cells, and I certainly don’t feel any different so I’ve got everything crossed it’s a one off, but I know with this disease anything can happen. 🤞🤞🤞
