I'm wondering if there is a connection between platelets and underactive thyroid / hashimoto. Don't mean thyroid is causing platelets to be high ,but if levothyroxine needs increasing that may help lower platelets.
I have appointment next week and will discuss
Meanwhile thoughts welcome

Hard to know what symptoms are caused by what. Suprised if you have hashimoto you havnt been recomended meds Im wondering about possible connection as rather try taking more levothyroxine than hydroxicarbamide.
I have had underactive thyroid for 43 yrs and ET for 3 yrs so I am thinking if thyroxine lowered platelets I would not have had high platelets 3 yrs ago to diagnose ET I have taken thyroxine for the 43 yrs it was my yearly blood test for thyroid function that showed high platelets
Snap. I’ve been on thyroxin for 20 years and diagnosed with E T 4 years ago, so no connection in my opinion.. all those pills! If you shake me I rattle 😂
I hope your medical consultation goes well as in my experience good medical support may be required to manage the additional challenge of fatigue when taking Levothyroxine, a thyroid hormone supplement, combined with Hydroxy daily for ET. I had managed fatigue associated with ET relatively well but experienced deep fatigue when taking Levothyroxine for the first time last year. The dose may require careful adjustment over time, with the support of your medical practitioners, to establish the appropriate level.
