Has anyone ever heard anything about a test called a "thromboelastogram"?

I had unrelated knee surgery the other day. Discussed my PV with the anesthesiologist & he was surprised to hear I never had this test. He said it looks at the function of the platelets. I've never heard anyone mention this test before.

Not a clue. I had total knee replacement 19 months ago and the surgeon insisted that my platelets be around 350. Interesting to see if anyone else has any ideas.
