Hey, could any one advise if HCT can be dropped / managed with venesection ?

I've noticed on a random blood test from GP few months ago my hematocrit was 0.55

I assume this is considered high. In addition I do regular full blood tests in a local hospital and I never noticed Hematocrit on results. Not sure why, need to ask my Heamatologist about that...

Also, if venesections helps how soon appropriate range is achievable ?

Thanks heaps

Hi kamiilos,

You said earlier that you were on Pegasys. Are you still on it ?

Hello, Yes I've been on it for 8 weeks already. Next week I am going for first blood tests again. Wonder if that's enough time to notice a change 🙂

With PV the goal for males is to keep HCT < 45% If your current dose of Pegasys is not enough to maintain a hematologic response, then venesection is indicated to maintain the target HCT.
