panicking a bit

I mistakenly took my second dose of Jakafi 20 mg 4 hrs earlier than usual. This being France and holiday month I cannot get hold of my haematology care team for my PV…

SHOULD I BE WORRIED?

I doubt whether a one off incident like this would do any harm. I suggest you stay well hydrated.

It seems unlikely that this would be a big deal as a single incident, particularly if you are on a lower dose. Note that some take 25mg twice/day.

Note the half-life of Jakafi (the rate at which the drug is cycling out of the body).

Excretion: urine 74%, feces 22%; Half-life: 3h (parent drug), 5.8h (active metabolites)

If you remain concerned you could try contacting whatever is available in France that in the USA we call a Poison Help Line.

Thank you very much @hunter5582. I am reassured by your input too and the info. I doubt it will happen again. 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Relax, enjoy your holiday. You’ll be fine. I occasionally take mine at different times and have even been known to miss a dose (rarely) and I haven’t noticed any ill effects.

No! Relax you'll be fine, just wait a tad longer before taking your next is all...

Probably won't notice anything at all... is my guess... 8-)

Although 20 is considered high dose you should be fine, 4 hours early is likely no probs, I am on same dose and often 2 hours out and when travelling different time zones it can be 4 hours, of course best try to be near 12 hours normally
