Hi, I am ET triple negative 7+ years, have recently changed from Hydroxy to Interferon 90mcg every two weeks, I have just had my results back from a cervical screen test and have tested positive for HPV but there are no abnormal cells so currently low risk for cervical cancer.
As someone who is immune compromised I was just wondering if there is anyone else who has had the same, they are saying that they won’t need to test me again for another year but I am aware that it’s your immune system that fights the HPV, is waiting a year risking it?
Thanks in advance for any help/advice on this x

Sorry to hear about the HPV. Hope you remain asymptomatic.
I believe that IFNs are used to treat HPV in some circumstances. IFN exerts antiviral, immunoregulatory, and antitumor effects. It can play a role in the innate immune response against viral infections. You can do some research on your own to learn more about this.
Suggest that you make a list of specific questions to take to your care team (MPN Specialist/gynecologist) about MPN+HPV and IFN+HPV. It may be helpful for these two docs to consult with each other as well.
Hi I have Et & had abnormal cells more times than not since 1986 - didn't have hpv testing then. Had loop diathermy 1994 & Letts 2001 to take away the abnormal cells. I then had a hysterectomy in 2019 for something else & the abnormal cells returned within12 months along with the HPV. HPV can go by itself & has done in my case a couple of times. It is quite normal to be monitored on a yearly basis.
I'm now waiting for results from multiple biopsies. Strangely the previous few biopsies have been abnormal but no abnormal cells can be seen at colposcopy.
I was offered imiquimod (antiviral cream) but personally felt there was not enough research done on any interactions & speaking to my haematologist felt that there could be a risk of pancytopenia opted for laser treatment once they can see the area to treat.
Please note this is my personal preference as I am not medically trained.
