missed taking my Hydroxycarbamide

hi I forgot to take my Hydroxy 1500mg last night at tea time!! So I’ve just taken them now at 11.45 am

Just wondering if it’s safe to take my usual dose of 1500mg again tonight, but maybe a bit later before going to bed around 23.30 pm ??

Hello Kizzy, I took Hydroxy for eight years, but I don’t take it now, so this might be a bit out of date. I was told by a haematologist that if you experience any adverse symptoms, to take it at night. I know this does not answer your question, but you perhaps should ask an MPN specialist. That is a heavy dose of hydroxy. I am sure it warrants a specialists advice. Hope it gets sorted for you.

Personally, I wouldn’t worry about missing one dose, but that’s just me, and I’m not endorsing it.

I’ve missed the odd dose before, and just let it go, but notably, I’m on a low dose.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Take the medicine as soon as you can, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not take two doses at one time. online.epocrates.com/drugs/...

I was led to believe if you miss a dose, take your next dose as normal but don't double up in one day. Similarly I queried this if you change time zones for travel to avoid taking too many or not enough. Sometimes it's tricky trying to get the correct balance I know.

I miss doses quite often! I’m on quite a high dose and think that one day without it won’t matter. I just take my next dose when I usually would. X

If you normally only take it once a day I would say stick to once a day, not twice, but best try to call doc or doc nurse if poss

hi, I don’t think you should take tonight’s or just take 1. I suggest you call your clinic in the morning. I don’t think missing 3 will be a huge issue.
