Anagrelide SCP
Hello - I have been on Anagrelide for nearly 3 yrs- no problem.
Had a bad time with hydroxy-severe rash !!!!
I’ve been on Anagrelide about 5 years, get occasional palpitations, nothing to write home about. Hope all goes well for you.
hi yes I went on anagrelide in the hope I could come off hydroxi. I only managed 9 tablets a week. My body couldn’t cope with the correct dose for me to abandon hydroxi all together so I stayed in a combination for a few years. Now I’m on Peg and I love it.
yes, I tried anagrelide for 4 months. after taking hydroxy for about the same length of time. Hydroxy was a horrible experience. Anagrelide side effects were significantly fewer and less severe starting at .5 twice per day and then working up to 1.0 twice a day. I liked taking it until doctor advised to take more as platelet count was only creeping down. She increased the amount to two 2.0 per day. Within a very short time heart palpitations and skipped beats started. Dropped down to 3.0 per day spread out 8 hours in between but no difference. Tried to accept it with cardio doctor support. Then liver enzymes skyrocketed fast to 8-10X normal. Had to stop anagrelide. Cardio effects went away immediately. A liver specialist was added to my care team. As with all drugs, watch your step. Monitor results. We react differently and you never know when something out of left field gets in your way. Good luck.
thanks I’m hoping it goes ok I don’t like Hydrea either I’m nauseous every day good luck
Hi, I have been on Anagrelide for 14 years no and no problems at all. I take 3 per day. Hope it works for you. Take care.
thank you I hope I’m the same as you
I was on it 11 years, no noticeable side effects. The only thing is, I was taken off it as the haematologist said it’s been linked with fibrosis of the bone marrow, which I have now got
Thank you! On hydroxy and much better, thank you. Anagrelide is the one I've felt best on, hoping you do well on it
Been on anagrelide for 15 years....all going well...New consultant wanted to switch me to hydroxycarbamide and i suffered awful side effects and had a tia...and it dodnt do it job with regards to my blood count....I insisted on going back to anagrelide, an argument that went on for 2 years with my consultant but i eventually got my way, and so far so good. What suits one doesn't suit all so if you try it and it's not for you, then at least you know.
thank you hope all goes well
