Blood results today show a platelet count of 550, it's been 18 months since they were that low. I do hope it's not a blip.

Great news does anyone know what the normal range is now, I'm happy with mine around 488 I'm on hydroxy, my haemo keeps saying she wants it lower, I'm determined not to take any higher dosage of hydroxy (chemo) , thank you for any advise.

When I spoke to Professor Harrison she said anything under 500 was good, my heamotologist agrees. I am on 14 hu a week which is more than I want to take if I can get my counts stable I will look at trying to reduce that.

In posts here we've seen a range of 450 to 600. 600 was a common limit in the past and some Drs still use it. As Hunter has said, how fast it's changing is also important along with the actual number.

If you're going to have adverse reactions at higher HU it is a good question how important that last bit of PLT is.
