Yes yes yes…….Recommended to me by my haematologist.
1/2 teaspoon in water prior to showering. It’s an amino acid and completely tasteless.
Works a dream for me and now that we are in winter (I live in Australia)
I haven’t taken it for the last couple of months. I think the summer heat and humidity aggravate the itch. OTC preparations just did nothing for me.
Do hope it works for you as this condition is just awful.
All the best

Hi Rosie,
Thank you for your update.
I read about it in journal.of Australian MPN Advocacy.
Do you take it or just mix into the water..?
Hi WilliamNo just in glass of water.
My husband has an auto immune issue which causes him intense scalp itching and his dermatologist has tried so many different lotions etc to no avail. This week I said he should try BA (nothing to lose ) and so he is taking it twice daily for the last week.
There definitely has been some improvement….we shall see how it goes.
But for my PV pruritis it is a godsend.

Hi Rosie, I just starting taking B-Alanine and it has had a dramatic effect on the reaction I was having to water and humidity (stinging, burning, pricking sensations). So far, I have had little or no reaction to taking a shower, which is a huge relief. I don't know why this isn't recommended by hematologists as a first line treatment for this problem. Do you still use it and has it continued to help you.
HI William-Indo. I jus started using B-A and it has been a big help. The stinging, pricking sensations I was getting from water and humidity have gone away. I am mixing 1/2 tsp of BA in water and drinking it every morning. Have you tried it yet and, if so, is it helping you?
Thanks for your reply. I have found that I need to take it at least 30 minutes before showering. The other day I showered about 15 minutes after taking it and got some stinging although not as bad as other times. Please let me know if you decide to try and if it helps you.
I'm using Nutricost Beta-Alanine a powdered form. 1 tsp is 3G. I got it from Amazon. What do the Australian doctors recommend? Do you live in Australia?
