Can anybody give me advice how to go about getting to see a mpn specialist and also one near Manchester.also what is the best treatment for ET MPL .thank you.

There is Professor Somervaille (MPN Specialist) at The Christie in Manchester.

Treatment depends on many things including age, presenting symptoms and any other health conditions you may have.

Hi just ask your GP to do a referral to Professor Sommervaille at Manchester Christies hospital he’s brilliant clinic is Wednesdays there I’m under him myself

I have had ET for last 16 years and treated with just aspirin. In November I was told on a telephone consultation with my haematologist that according to WHO protocol my treatment must change dramatically.

Advice ive received here on this forum was to seek a second opinion with a true specialist.

I discovered there is Professor Tim Somervaille at the Christie hospital in Manchester.

I asked my GP to refer me and spoke to his secretary. The referral from your GP must include the phrase “second opinion”.

I am now awaiting my consultation at the beginning of February.

That very much I will ask my nurse on Tuesday when I see her if she can refer me, if not I will ask my Gp.thanks again.
