Not only have the Government told people they do not have to shield anymore, they have told supermarkets that they should stop priority slots to the vulnerable and telling the stores that they have to erase all data held on these people.
Tesco emailed me this information today but they are worried about people who are vulnerable so they said respond to their email and they will continue with priority slots for as long as is needed.
Can’t thank you enough Tesco. I wish this stinking rotten government would have an ounce of the care and concern you are showing your customers.

Got the same email. We transferred to the six month pre pay some time ago - works out about £1.80 per week. the clubcard points go some way to paying. For the duration Tesco has provided a good service so we will be staying loyal. Thanks Tesco!
Good on Tesco, we have used their priority slots for a few months now, but recently switched to 6 month delivery deal . Still shielding after that pointless waste of paper letter from the Government saying we no longer have to shield…they haven’t got a clue what it is like for us,
Yes hun, the government contacted the supermarkets at the beginning of the first lockdown and they were given a list of all registered vulnerable people. The supermarkets then put you in a priority service group
The instruction to erase all the data will be because of data protection legislation, but good for Tesco for allowing people to continue. They can hold your data if they have your permission. I have never done online grocery shopping because my husband went out shopping while I was shielding (our area was low risk). However, after my SCT we will have to have deliveries so it's good to know that Tesco is offering this more compassionate approach.
Asda have their grocery slots available to book right up to Christmas now. I did a marathon of online orders.
The new 50p charge for booking a collection slot has been waved for people on the shielding list. The minimum spend for free click and collect is £25, it is £40 for free delivery. I have kept our weekly grocery bill to £30 for the two of us so far buying healthy basic ingredients, though some prices are rising.
We have got the breadmaker out since our seeded wholemeal loaf went up to £1. I made 3 jars of orange and apple peel clear marmalade yesterday using the peel from our daily breakfast orange. So much time for simple projects!

We use click and collect at 7 a.m. DH texts when he arrives at the covered collection point in the car park, and the staff member brings out his boxes and stands back while he packs the groceries into our bags.
There are occasional substitutions, like the whole leg of lamb instead of a half leg, at no extra charge. DH can refuse them and the staff member arranges a refund.
