My husband's liver function bloods were always high on hydroxy. He was sent to a liver specialist he said he had NASH liver non alcoholic related he did change his diet and that brought the numbers down a bit but it does say medication can cause LFTs to be high .

Hepatoxicity is one of the known toxicities associated with hydroxyurea. online.epocrates.com/drugs/...

Monitoring liver function is one of the requirements for use of HU. Signs of significant liver impairment may require a change in your treatment plan. Fortunately there are other options should you not be able to tolerate HU.

Hi, I have fluctuating values in my blood tests concerning the liver. Yesterday my haematologist said she was going to consult with someone from the gastro.dept. She wondered if it could be caused by a gallstone. The values were also a bit high before I began with HU. I don't drink.

However they have been relatively high then the next month they were fairly ok.

Funny you should mention gallstones as my husband had emergency surgery last year to get his gallbladder removed .He went in hospital in absolutely agony they ended up sending him home 6 days later he was back in with sepsis and he had emergency surgery.

Hi, it's hard to know sometimes what is causing what. I hope your husband recovers soon. It sounds like it was an ordeal. All the best.
