Booked in for “3rd” Vaccine

After my communication with the CCG things have now moved on.

This morning I got a very friendly call back from my GPs surgery to book me in with the carefully chosen words a “3rd” vaccine.

I said I hope a note will be made that this will be a ‘Third Primary Dose’, in order for me to obtain a booster in six months time. The response was they are aware of the Third Primary Dose, but their system will only record it as a ‘booster’ for now, and at a later date it will be updated, she also said the government are aware of this too. Hmm!

Anyway, booked in for Sunday 17 October.

Well done. As they say, the squeaky wheel gets the oil (or vaccine in this case!).So pleased you managed to get the system to work for you

John, that’s my hubby’s favourite saying, and it’s so true.

I would be very suspicious that they are just going to give you a booster. Make sure you double check.

I have double checked my patient portal. There is a message on my records for this to be noted as a “Third Primary Dose” and as soon as their systems allow, it will be changed from “Booster” to “Third Primary Dose.”

I shall be pursuing a booster in six months time, so will be prepared for any forthcoming battle. I’ve got plenty of experience to date🤣🤣

After you saying you had contacted the ccg I decided to give that a try as I was getting absolutely nowhere. A few days later a gp receptionist rang me to confirm that I have now been coded as immunosuppressed, explaining that they had to re code me. If they had bothered to read the information sent to them in the first place they would have known that was what they had to do. The letters even gave the codes to use. I asked if they were going to send me a letter from the gp to take to the vaccination centre, explaining that the centre refused to do it without a letter from gp authorising it, she did not know anything about that but said she would ask. At least I have made one step forward. I have no doubt that this wouldn't have happened if I had not contacted the ccg. Thank you so much for sharing that tip.

You’re welcome Carol.

I only did it through sheer frustration, but it worked, glad to hear that your GPs are now listening too. Keep pursuing the letter, and let them know you’re keeping communication open with the CCG too. X
