Why am I told to continue with low dose aspirin when my platelets are only 70?

That’s pretty low! I would want a second opinion from an MPN expert.

My consultant agreed with me that anti platelet medication such as aspirin could be discontinued when my platelets dropped below 100 in post ET MF. My platelet level hovers around 40-60 all the time. After 20+ years on aspirin it felt odd dropping it but I do take a turmeric supplement which also contains salicylic acid - the active ingredient of aspirin

Aspirin does not reduce platelets, it’s stops you blood being sticky.

Scaredy_cat, when did your MPN specialist last perform a bone marrow biopsy? If your care provider is not with a MPN specialist don't let the sun go down before getting an appointment with one. You are at a platelet level that will allow a port otherwise future transfusions will impact your arms to the point where finding a vein will become difficult if you become transfusion dependent. As platelets decline even getting your teeth cleaned will be prohibited. Magnesium prevents platelets from sticking together and it's also needed to activate vitamin B1 which along with other B vitamins may address tingling. Search on "krispin magnesium" for more info.
