Hello ChillyAsh - yes I do get cramps + foot joint pain, but mine always seems to be linked to certain brands of statins - I have to be on them + it’s very important to me to keep my evil bad cholesterol battened down - but I have definitely worked out certain brands are the cause of cramps as opposed to hydroxy. Hope you find out what’s causing your pain. Very best Anne-Marie (ET JAK2+)
I can get a slight cramping feeling but not much. Are you ok re hydration? I find i am quite thirsty in the mornings even if well hydrated and wonder if this is causing your cramp?
😬
I get slight cramp in feet and calves at night . Not every night .
not connected with hydroxy as not takin (yet)
Thank you all for comments will mention it to hematologist

Yes and also hands. I take hydroxycarbamide
Yes and also in hands. I take hydroxycarbamide
I wake up all the time with my calves having a Charlie horse. I never thought it could be the medicine causing it. Maybe something to look in to.
I get leg cramps and hand /forearm cramps. I’m careful to stay hydrated. 128oz or more of water a day. I also added Body armor lyte sports drink. It’s got higher potassium to help cramping. It’s helped. But I still get cramps on occasion. Stay active
I'm on hydroxycarbamide and I also experience cramps in my feet quite often and calves occasionally. I have read that regularly taking hydroxy can cause muscle spasms and twitching which is also something I get when trying to relax and sleep, are spasms the same as cramps?, I'm guessing they must be. I also had an ulcer on my ankle last year and it took weeks to clear up....still have the scar tissue remaining even now, which is still very tender if knocked accidentally. I also unfortunately seem to get mouth ulcers from time to time, but I just rinse/gargle with salt water to help clear them up.
HU can cause swelling in the lower legs, but usually not cramps as others have indicated. It can be really hard to sort out what is the MPN, what is the medications, and what is unrelated as the symptoms often overlap. Some people with MPNs do experience cramps, as well as swelling and pain, and tingling/numbness in the extremities.
I did also experience leg cramps in the past. My cramps were related to a magnesium deficiency. Mg supplements stopped the cramps. Iron deficiency can also cause this problem. It is best to measure for deficiencies rather than just start taking supplements, That allows proper dose titration if you do need supplements.
It can take a bit of detective work to sort this all out. One clue is when did the symptoms begin, before or after the HU? Some people do have unusual reactions to MPNs and the meds used to treat them. That is why it is good idea to consult with a MPN Specialist rather than a regular hematologist.
Hope you get relief soon.
Yessssss, cramp at night in calves and arches of the feet and in my hands during the day 😱
Once in a blue moon in calf and forearm.
I haven't had any cramps for years. After being on Hydrea for 6 weeks, I had a big stretch whilst reclined on the couch & got a cramp in my shin. Hadn't considered it may be due to the Hydrea, something to consider thank you. Unfortunately, not long before I cramped & yelled out in pain, my husband had said 'I'm on a work call', his notification for me to be quiet.. Oops, it's Hydrea's fault!
No - But my husband does !!!
