New meds: I have my new prescription of hydroxy... - MPN Voice
New meds
Make mine Irish Whiskey and I am with you !!!
A votre Sante !!cheers and good health!.....we need that don't we !
I always feel like a downer, but.....all my docs say not to drink on HU (except an occasional drink is ok but better not to.) Katie
My Haematologist told me everthing in moderation is fine, just dont go on any benders, which is something I have never done. apart from my Hydroxycarbamide I do take other meds so have to be careful, but my attitude is that I did not ask to get ET so a little of what you fancy never hurts. Just make sure you drink plenty of water every day, that keeps everything flushed and also helps with body hydration, and enjoy life, we may of been dealt a blow with our respective MPNs, but hey at least now we know why we were in poor health, well in my case for many years. Just good to know there was something wrong with me, so take the drugs and I enjoy every aspect of my life and this great forum, has kept me going.

Ha ha! Know the feeling. Good luck, hopefully you'll find the Hydroxy problem free. Best wishes, Frances
Thanks all. I've downed the first tab and will see how it goes. My fearless hound loves his mooch down to the pub for the Sunday session. We'll see how it goes. Everything crossed🐾🐾💋
Always a Pernod and then some red wine with dinner on Saturday nights - Been on Hydroxy 4 years now and no probs so far - We have all got to have some fun sometimes !
Just an odd snifter is fine, lots of water all day is essential of course,7yrs of H U and other drugs has never affected my one apero of whiskey has not hurt me at all,my consultant knows I have it,knows also I don't touch wine or smoke and actually an odd glass of wine with water is not so bad either,as already said ,everything in moderation.!!Cheers all. !!
Cheers! I hope it helps to find your courage to the other.... Good luck!
Can't argue with you there lol
When I asked about red wine my specialist nurse said he would be the last person to tell me not to drink alcohol.
That's good enough for me . 😀🍷 Cheers! Lesley x
The advice in our booklet is that whilst it is safe to drink alcohol in moderation whilst taking Hydroxycarbamide, we recommend you do not exceed the recommended weekly limits of 21 units of alcohol per week for a man and 14 units for a woman. Alcohol can cause dehydration and it is important to avoid becoming dehydrated if you have an MPN, you should ask your nurse or doctor if you require any further information regarding alcohol consumption.
