Antibiotics and ET

Hi l have suffered with a recurring earache and swelling in my lymph glands before a Thrombocythemia 2020 and subsequent diagnosis of ET and Jak2 2021. For a recent earache and swelling l was given Otomize earspray wich caused even more pain so l stopped it. Yesterday l was prescribed Erythromycin 4 times a day lm unsure what's going on with my ear and swelling has anyone had a similar experience and might it be linked to ET.

Thanks Adiewon 😊

I am not aware of any link between ET nor the meds used to treat it. Unless something has comprised your immune system, the two things are likely unrelated.

I have had significant ear infections on multiple occasions. They are quite painful at times. hope you find relief soon.

I get a lot of ear infections - mine are caused by inner ear eczema. I haven't got eczema anywhere else on my body.

The sprays have never worked for me either, in fact they make the symptoms worse.

Oral antibiotics and keeping my inner ears dry are the only things that work for me.

I was referred to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist after a period of recurrent infection, he diagnosed the eczema and made me a pair of ear plugs, which I wear in the shower or when swimming. If I do happen to get water in my ears, I dry them with the cool setting on my hair dryer.

Hope you get some relief quickly. Kari
