My latest painting

Between knitting my Christmas mice I have carried on painting and this is my latest and biggest. It took me over 20 hours to do over 3 weeks because I had to wait for the oil paint to dry before I could add details.

Love this one Jill, , you really bring your subject to life I could almost reach out and pat her (wearing a bow) and give her a treat. . . I'm sure your charming oil will walk out the door and collar a good donation for McMillan. Chris x

Thanks mate, I think because I had to wait days in between painting bits because it’s oil, that I have been able to find things I had missed or wasn’t quite right. I would be so chuffed to sell it.

Hi, what a lovely painting. Out of interest, this is obviously not a first attempt. So is it only dogs that you paint or does the subject vary. Are your paintings viewable anywhere ?Thought the mice were impressive then you produce a beautiful painting.

My passion is dogs so it’s all I have painted so far. I am self taught having only started painting at the beginning of lockdown. My husband had bought me a beautiful art box many years ago so I decided to give it a go. Mum always wanted me to do something with my art as I could always draw so I was pleased she saw some of my work before she passed. This is my first very big work, my second is my bulldog. I am trying to do a collection to put on a website and every penny will be going to MacMillan nurses. If the other members of the group don’t mind I will open a topic for you to see my other work as I can’t add photos to answers. Thank you for the lovely compliment x

Thanks for your reply. If you ever get any time to take on any requests. I have (had) 2 lovely cheeky cocker spaniels. One has sadly recently passed away. I would love a painting (from a photo) of the girls - Ellie Bongo and Lottie to take a special place in my home. Please keep showing us your lovely work xRose

It's really very impressive. I think that painting might have a particular branch in the art that is responsible for tranquility. I look at it, and it relaxes me. Does this happen to you? I love how relaxed the paintings are on this site, and I love the filling process, so this is my favorite place at the moment.

Thank you for such a lovely comment. I looked at the website, some are very impressive. I haven’t done another painting since, well I have started one but it’s just sitting on my easel now, not quite sure how much I like it or not. It’s a Hush puppy hound dog. I love it’s droopy eyes. I will have to make myself finish it before I judge. Thanks again x
