Just a quick Update to assure everyone that this RIDE is all booked in from APRIL 10-17, 2021
I am currently in the throws of desperately trying to attract ever more media attention from a host of Radio stations, and local rags that might wish to include our story, much like the one attached below, as we continue our epic Seven (7) Days of consecutive 100km per day journey riding up the NSW coastline. Unfortunately, I am not the most photogenic cyclist, hence Narcissism is not something I have to concern myself with... I am almost 62 yo, and most of the time I feel great...
Anyways, more updates as the countdown continues... Just seven (7) more weeks to go... Scary huh?
well done Steve, looking good on your bike, and good luck with getting more publicity and media, and also much good luck with the ride. Best wishes, Maz x x
Thanks for that Maz... It's getting real now, and we are currently having so much rain it's difficult to train like I was... But a slower build is probably not a bad thing anyways...
Good Luck Steve hope all goes well, spoke with my friends in Sydney and they said, that is some ride you are doing, and good luck to you mate.By the way you are looking good in all your cycling gear.
Yes, that's the hope... And even if I don't manage to raise much funding, at least I might raise some AWARENESS of MPNs, and that will be something too...
Gudday sport ! Looking real good there Steve , i can see youve worked hard on your fitness level ahead of the challenge and would no doubt give many guys half your age a run for their dollars. I wish I'd a tenth of your muscle mass , I used to have strong legs but they're like two twigs now off a knarly tree 😃. Glad things are on track for April.
Hoping you and yours are all safe & well of course...
Firstly, in my haste to have the attached Brochure Printed in time to use it to promote this event, and all of the tasks I have set for myself tat MUST be undertaken, my dear old 'Brain-Fog' unfortunately had the better of me...
Hence, just to correct this cycling feat's duration: It is ONLY FIVE (5) Days of consecutive Riding 100km per day (average), and NOT seven as I stated above...
However, the whole trip is Seven Days & Nights long...
It has been a wretched buildup, due to unforeseen family events over the break, and of course my own minor brain stroke that left some nasty residual effects... However, I am well on the mend, although my leg is still only circa 90% returned at this juncture, and as of today... Just Seven Weeks to be fit for the event, (if I don'y fall apart first...?) Because I do suffer cramping rather badly, I have started taking Extra Sodium in special electrolytes, and while my cramps do seem under control, the downside is the water-retention caused is seeing me really struggle with my weight... I gained around 6kg over the break... Oouch!!!
I am definitely NOT as fit or as well trained as I was this time last years when riding 300-400km pw... I have that other disease ceaseless & inevitably creeping up on me also...
Old Age
Here in Australia, there is so little known about MPNs, and so few specialists...
It would be nice to believe that some of this extended marketing campaign may have helped that along with a tad of MPN AWARENESS, such is my hope of course...
Anyways buddy... It is what it is... And I shall give it my best shot of course...
This is going to be a big challenge Steve but I'm sure you'll make it,and hopefully you will get the other four to join you.Fabulous you are raising funds and awareness for an obscure condition like ours. All the best Lynn.
Yes, that would be awesome if that does indeed transpire, (after all that was the design for this CV–19 affected Fundraiser). I'm reaching every which way I can w/ my marketing ideas, and the rest is in the lap of the "Cycling Gods" I guess... C'est la vie...
Whatever ultimately transpires, I shall still be making the effort myself in any event...
