I took this picture from a cat who had leukemia. Their blood cells are identical to ours. As you can see the blast cell is huge compared to the other white blood cells. That is because it is immature and has been released from the bone marrow too soon. Blasts should not be seen circulating in the blood unless you have myelofibrosis or leukemia.
