New hydroxycarbamide dosage

Wanted to update everyone who advised and supported me when I asked for advice when six months into my diagnosis and treatment on aspirin and hydroxycarbamide I was suffering from nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and sickness.

I contacted my named nurse at the hospital and after she spoke to my consultant they cut out my weekend tablets and thankfully most of the symptoms reduced and after my last blood test my platelets were still at an acceptable level so I’m staying on the reduced dosage. I have a bit of my life back, so now I’m hoping I don’t have to increase meds again!!

That is great news. Glad to hear you found a dosing you can tolerate. The good news is that there are other options if the HU does not work for you. Hopefully you can go steady on your current course and get back to just enjoying life.
