Pv patients r so prone to clotting thus in danger of having stroke or heart attack. Vitamin e as i found has the ability to prevent blood clot and also reduce free radicals that cause cell damage. So can we take it regularly as a medicine for pv?

hello Spa1981, you need to discuss this with your haematologist or nurse specialist, they will be able to advise you. Best wishes, Maz

Vit. E can be blood thinning, particularly in larger doses. It would have the potential to potentiate aspirin or any other blood thinner. This is also true for many of the supplements that are anti-inflammatory. A key principle for meds and supplements is that if something can help you, it can also hurt you (side effects and drug interactions).

Unfortunately, most doctors are not well trained in nutrition and the use of supplements as complimentary health interventions. They will also say "no" because they are just not sure. I suggest not just taking supplements/vitamins without informed input into what you are doing. A good first step is a thorough nutritional analysis by a provider competent to provide this service. That is part of why I see an Integrative/Functional Medicine doc.

All the best.
