Don’t think it will be mainstream research unfortunately.
While I’m well enough I’m trying various approaches to try and lower platelets , accepting perhaps I will need conventional meds at some point...
Ps. This is the bit that made me think it was a reasonable article. It wasn’t dismissing conventional meds...
With the addition of the 3 herbs discussed, each subsequent blood test over the course of 10 months showed a reduction of platelets. Prior to the addition of these 3 herbs, past evidence suggests platelet levels were not effectively controlled by hydroxyurea. In prior years while on the drug, the platelet levels were inconsistent and volatile, with platelet levels greater than 1,000 on many instances. With the addition of these 3 botanicals mentioned, platelets are consistently lower, and presently at or under 500. With the consistently lowered platelets, the client’s physician reduced the dosage of hydroxyurea by 50%.
Clearly there is much needed research into the use of herbal medicine for essential thrombocytosis. The documented mechanisms of action on various platelet-reducing mechanisms may serve as an important strategy for other myoproliferative disorders, and other conditions involving blood stagnation, platelet aggregation and clotting disorders.
this is a true hope for many ET patients.
In my humble opinion, regarding our medical conditions, this type of practitioner is highly unreliable and untrustworthy.
Tocotrienol is derived from various sources however tocotrienol from red palm oil and from annatto each have unique properties worth your time to research. Red palm tocotrienol has platelet inhibiting properties. It's available in 50mg caps and taken twice a day with a fatty food like coconut oil. My wife experience while on Anagrelide, which didn't reduce her 900+ level, and with her oncologist's approval was a steady decline with a subsequent reduction in the amount of Anagrelide used per week. Always consult with your medical professional before using any supplement.
They normalized over time and her oncologist withdrew the Anagrelide.
