ET Folic Acid

I have ET Jak2+, taking HU and clopidogrel. Diagnosed 5 years ago

Platelets etc all under control but recently my folate level has started to fall from mid normal range to below minimum. Has anyone else had this? GP is saying to take folic acid and I am waiting for my haemo to get back to me as I am always concerned about side effects with HU.

Haematologist put me on folic acid about 15 years ago. Taken continuously ever since through taking HU, Angrelide, Pegasys and now Ruxolitinib. Personally no problems - but always best to run past your consultant as you mention.

Thanks so much for this. Very helpful. Might come back to you about how you have got on with the interferon based meds? But one thing at a time!

I was put on folic acid aswell. It helps my folate and iron.level

Thanks. My red cell count and HGB are permamently low and we have tried iron tablets to no avail. Hope folic acid might help.

Hi Stephen

I have PV and take aspirin and Hydrea. My GP wanted me to take iron supplements which I started then contacted my Haematologist and he said no don’t take them. I won’t see him toll Jan 2021 so will ask in more depth. Hope you an get some answers.
