Was recently diagnosed with hypertension. 183 over 80. Have ET JAK positive. Anybody else have problems with high blood pressure? Doc doesn’t seem to know if it’s related to ET.

Hey Scrollernut... :-)

Yes, I also use to have huge problems when first diagnosed...

Then I changed my diet and lifestyle, and the need to take BP tablets ended...

However, when exercising, it can still be higher than I'd really like...

But I am currently trialling another natural source, & way to deal w/ that too...

I'll tell you more shortly... 8-)

Stay safe & well...

Steve

I’m sure my diet could use a make over but don’t use salt , small appetite , lots of veggies and fruit. Don’t drink alcohol, stay active. Weight stays between 140-145. So not sure what to change. 🥴. Starting meds. Keep in touch.

I was diagnosed with ET about 10 years ago but only recently had problems with high blood pressure. The tablets prescribed are bringing it down, nearly back to noral levels. Although I'm trying to lose weight so that should help too.

Good luck with the weight loss. It can be a struggle. Had to lose 50 lbs several years ago. Took close to a year but every pound off was celebrating.

My mom had rheumatic fever when she was a girl. If it caused problems she never let on. Mom never discussed health problems. Wish she had. Tried to shield us from it all! Stay healthy ♥️

Since February. On a break from Hydrea to see if problems are due to it. Got an appointment next week to see if counts are still normal. Hydrea brought them down in just two weeks.

Hi, I was diagnosed with ET in February, and started on Hydrea soon after. They think I have had it around 10 years, having checked my records. I was diagnosed with hypertension about 5 years ago, and am medicated for that. I hadn't thought about a connection until your post.....

Who knows!? Maybe just a coincidence.. platelets and blood pressure starting increasing about the same time. 2-3 years ago but just now being diagnosed with both. So many other meds and diseases all have same symptoms. It’s hard to know what causes what. The problem I’m having now and actually for the past 2-3 years as well but getting worse is a great deal of swallowing especially pills, getting nauseous then throwing up. (Dysphasia.). Sometimes even water will make me sick. Going in for an esophgram test next week to see what’s going on with my esophagus. My G.P. is finally taking me serious and running a lot of diagnostic test to see if I have other health issues. So far all is normal. Guess that’s a good thing. Got two more to go. Sometimes I wish they would find something so we can address it and get rid of it or I’ll learn to handle it. Either way I’ll know. I can deal with the known. It’s the unknown that makes me nuts!! Oh well. Thanks for listening. (Reading!). 😍

Oh my, you are not having an easy time with it are you! I hope they do find what is going on....Doctors do seem to struggle to listen sometimes, took me a fair few years to get to the ET diagnosis that explained the symptoms I have been having. It is hard when there are so many ailments with similar symptoms, but I do think doctors get a bit of tunnel vision sometimes and think you are exaggarrating. Crossing my fingers for you, and will listen/read happily any time you feel the need to let some stuff out. We all get on with it day to day, but sometimes it can be nice to drop the front a bit and allow a little time to feel sorry for yourself :)

Thanks. You know what really gets my goat is when the docs say that all the ‘research’ they do says this or that or the drug companies say this or that. I want to shout HOW ABOUT ASKING PEOPLE WHO LIVE WITH IT! Not the pharmaceuticals, not some article that someone wrote after reading such and such but real live people who deal with it every day! AGGGGGG! Sorry. Bad day already and it’s only 9:00. Been outside watering. Been hot and DRY here in Chicago area. Poor plants are withering. Lots of tea and water for me. 😆

Bit of self TLC I prescribe....

Tough, starting the day like this, I know! It really frustrates me that the medical profession is so stuck in their superiority attitude just because they have studied medicine. We are each the expert on ourselves, but when we explain things to a doctor you can see them making up their own mind without properly 'hearing' you, and then it doesn't seem to matter what you say, they think they know better. It is ###frustrating at times.

Watering my garden is a little bit of therapy for me, love it, been raining here..... :( The poor plants will drown if I add to their water intake. Am going to join you in having a cuppa and that staple regular glass of water :)
