Did anyone see Doc Martin (repeat) Tuesday last week. It mentioned Polycythaemia Rubra Vera. First time I've ever heard it mmentioned in a tv programme. Hope you're all keeping well.
Doc Martin: Did anyone see Doc Martin (repeat... - MPN Voice
Doc Martin
Hi Mark, , yes I watched it too but also recall it from the first time around. It was a surprise then to hear an MPN mentioned in a mainstream prog. It's no bad thing that rarer conditions beam into our living rooms aside of fly on the wall hospital series.
It's likely the best way to educate a wide audience. . .
Cheers - Chris
Hi Chris, must admit I don't remember first time around, but it may have been before I was diagnosed (12 years now) or may be the oldvgrey matter isn't as good as it used to be😁😁. Good that it was mentioned, but a shame it was almost just a one liner. But at least a rare condition was mentioned. Hope you're keeping well and safe. But, then I know you'll be doing the right thing. Cheers Mark.
Like many of us I'm doing ok in my own way trying to get on with life taking care , ,and like many frustrated to heck about the whole Covid thing on many levels. . And now talk of over 50s staying home ! .
Anyway it is what it is and there's always numerous repeats on tv to keep us entertained, and of course the next nuggets of Govt wisdom when Boris takes the podium.
Take care
Hello Mark. Yes I remembered it the first time round. It’s good to have it mentioned on tv. Keep well
In 2268, Dr. McCoy was diagnosed with xenopolycythemia. The Star Trek Concordance described xenopolycythemia as characterized by excessive proliferation of red blood cells, similar to the Earthly condition polycythemia.
I was watching the original Star Trek TV series snd was struck by an episode in which this disease was diagnosed in the fictional ' Bones' McCoy
Wow! I am a big Trekkie fan will have to watch that episode - do you know which episode it was
The episode is 'For the world is hollow and I have touched the sky'
Hi Mark,
Which series and episode was it, please? I've watched Doc Martin many times but, of course, I wasn't looking for it then, as the pesky ET is a recent nuisance for me.
Take care and stay well,
Ruth
Thank you, Mark.
