Where do you inject your Pegasys?

I have always injected in my tummy, but I lost a lot of weight (mainly because of several courses of antibiotics earlier this year), and now I am struggling to grasp enough flesh. Do any of you inject into your thigh or anywhere else? Do you know if it makes any difference to absorption or effectiveness? Any comments welcome, thank you lovely MPN friends.

When using a syringe a home visit nurse injected into my upper arm.

After a while to reduce my dependency on the nurse I used a 'pistol' type syringe (i.e. a plunger type system that you activate) that I injected into the top of my thigh.

Didn't seem to make much difference to the effectiveness.

I wasn't able to inject into my tummy since I was already injecting twice a day anti-coagulation products and was short on 'un-bruised' space.

Hope things go well.

I inject “round the clock”in sequence ie, left tummy, left thigh, right thigh, right tummy at weekly dose intervals. Ensure at least 2 inches from your navel, to avoid tiny blood vessels. I still get a small local rash on the tummy sites, but the thigh sites don’t seem to produce any inflammation.

Thank you. I used to get a rash on my tummy but it just stopped happening.

Nurse recommended to rub in Evening Primrose Oil (cut open the capsules) if you get red patches from Pegasys injections - seems to work for me. Redness had reduced a bit after first starting injections, but still bothersome. OK now. Hope that helps.

Thighs only. 45 degree angle. I don't grasp the skin.

Thank you. It's never occurred to me not to grasp some flesh.

Yes, it works just fine. Nurse recommended this, she was against this in my case. I'm pretty skinny, almost no fat. The hardest part is not to hit a blood vessel.

More recently I have been doing the same.

I always found it painful to inject in my stomach and now discover, no doubt due to the lack of walking recently, that my thigh is a much better prospect.

When I asked my nurse when I first started doing this, why they suggested the stomach she told me it was only because that seems to be the easiest [;lace to inject oneself. So wherever is best for you is all that's required, so long as it's into fat or similar. Avoiding the sciatic nerve of course but then that is probably inaccessible anyway. If we could reach our 'behinds', I've no doubt that would be an ideal site!

Thank you. All this is reassuring so next week, thigh it is.
