Just been out for my daily exercise and the birds are tweeting and pairing up, the deer were out too and the buzzard was sitting on his high perch looking for his dinner. The pussy willows and leaves are bursting out on the trees and snowdrops and daffodils still blooming.
Everyone I saw (at a safe distance of course) said hello and “hope you are well”. A very pleasant stroll with nature and some very nice humans and fresh air.
Oh the male pheasants were starting to strut their stuff to gain the females’ attention. Isn’t nature wonderful?
Take care, keep well, Aime xx😻😻🕷☺️🦊🐰🦅

Yes it is a wonderful world, at the moment we can enjoy it at its best, blue skies, trees starting to bloom and the birds singing. And no aircraft noise going in and out of Heathrow!!! Even the air is so much fresher, is it not strange that something like this nasty virus can make people appreciate what is around them, now that we have time to stand and stare and listen to the birds singing.
Hi Aime . . . Also illustrates life's irony in that it would likely be a late Spring with horrible weather if we didn't have this blasted virus to contend with. , the sunshine comes when the Govt want everybody to stay in at home. . But as you say if you're able to take a safe walk in the country it's wonderful to see Mother Nature breathing life into things and the birds gathering up nesting material and performing their courtship. .
I live about a mile from the sea here in Blackpool and our birds esp the Seagulls are struggling to get enough food with schools shut (no playtime grub dropped) , Maccy Ds shut, and hardly anyone on the Promenade. And no leftovers as we're eating all the food we have.
I won’t be sorry to see less seagulls! I had two hospital appointments last November. After the first I went outside to eat a sandwich before the second one, not a seagull in sight. I went to take a bite and it swooped from behind, over my shoulder and took it right out of my hand! 🙄
Yes Judy they can be very aggressive esp if got young in the nest and it happens to be in your chimney top. . Many feel the same as you having been robbed of chips, ice cream, butties, but probably like foxes moving into and thriving in cities I think with the demise of the fishing industry and the fact humans leave their rubbish around they've adapted. .
When I went out in the garden today with a few crumbs for the sparrows there were 20 to 30 gulls squawking and circling above me. So maybe if we lose a few here and there it will be no great loss, but close up I find them a handsome bird. Better out at sea on some remote Isle though. X
Bloody Sky Rats!! Too bad they are no good breaded and deep-fried. The Kentucky Colonel should try to find a way! Oh well - at least they are fun to watch from a distance. Up close - not so much. No matter what, I would rather be out in nature and enjoying it all rather than cooped up. Can even put up with the sky rats if I have too.
Hope you all can get outside and enjoy the out-of-doors. .
Glad to hear you were able to go out and enjoy nature. It is good for the mind, body and soul. I have been out too here in lovely West Virginia. The daffodils and crocuses are all in bloom. The cherry trees and other blooming trees likewise. The deer are moving about. Have yet to see the foxes, but will see them soon. Am looking for the black bears as I had a large adult male hanging out in my front yard last November. Very cool to see, though not up too close.
It is a great time to relax and enjoy the beauty all around us. Hope you have the chance to do the same.
Similar to you, we went for a walk around the village and it was as if all was well with the world. Drifts of daffodils on a little grassy knoll, sheep grazing in the fields, birds in full song and hardly a sole about.
Ironically, I'm starting to enjoy my confinement as it gives me time to reflect on the wonders of nature and the kindness of people. There is definitely a very strong light at the end of this tunnel.
Hi John, yes I agree. It's probably the first time for ages I have strolled around the nature reserve, without grandkids and just given the chance to peacefully appreciate nature. I am looking forward to being able to grandkids to. Take care Aime xx😻😻
Thanks for the lovely imagery that you describe on your walk Aime, and others too. It has been positively uplifting to read, particularly at this difficult time.
It has been a lovely couple of days. I’ve been quite busy in the garden, mowing the lawn attending the borders, hubby painting the garden furniture. I’ve also noted that I have absorbed the sights, sounds, and smells of nature around me in a much more profound way. The sun has been strong and warming and Venus shone bright in the night sky this evening, very symbolic of the light that WILL overcome this darkness.
Stay strong everyone, we will get through this! 🌞🌸🦋
