Tricky, so many things to consider. How well do you know the couple?

My concern is that the other party guests might not be as careful about virus hygiene as you would want. It would be hard to move away from anyone with a cough.

I don’t know where you live- where I am they are canceling social events, restaurant parties, sports games, etc. And they advise those with chronic illnesses to stay home

Hi, I have ET & MF, I take Hydroxy.

I have my brothers wedding today it is not going to stop me from going. I’ll just make sure I wash my hands and avoid people who are sneezing or coughing.

It is your discussion but if you go have a lovely night.

Oh dear what a conundrum. Wrong as my thoughts might be but if my Immune system was good then I would go but take as many precautions as possible. Poor bride And groom they must be terrified people would drop out.

It’s easy for me to say this as I’m retired with no young family relying on me.

My son is supposed to be getting married at the beginning of May. He is a scientist and fully understands my immunity problems and has already virtually forbidden me to attend - that is if it even goes ahead. If it does go ahead they are going to do some sort of video link so I don’t miss it altogether. It is a very difficult decision to make. Vulnerable folk have been advised to stay at home but I need to go to the surgery & hospital for blood tests and transfusions. Good luck with your decision. Best wishes, Jan

This is indeed tricky. All weddings, baptisms, church services, absolutely everything has been cancelled in Austria. Only hospitals pharmacies and supermarkets are open, so we don’t have to make such decisions.

I am high risk, not only because of my ET, but also my pulmonary history and have avoided almost everything for the past weeks. If it’s a tiny wedding and you know the people well and they are healthy and not in any risk category, you have a lower risk. But you don’t know about the waiters and others. So many people are careless!!

Our country stopped everything because the rate of infection of corona doubles every 3 days and we are trying to stop and explosion which would hit us by the end of May. Within a few weeks, we would not have the hospital capacity to deal with emergencies (ICU) any more. Italy is already there.

My goddaughter is getting married in Canada in May. I cancelled and I haven’t seen her or her mom, my oldest and closest friend, for 12 years. Painful. It’s your choice and not easy.

Take care.
