I do not want to be causing chaos but I have questions about how anyone who is transfusion dependent will be supported if this epidemic becomes really bad.Simply because donors will be in short supply and we may have to accept being low on the priority list.
I have 3 proposals.
Firstly encourage anyone you know to donate blood now or as soon as possible.
Second if you can get your consultant to put you ahead of the curve.
If you have to accept possible coronavirus contaminated blood. You may get away with no illness if there are sufficient antibodies in it. Or it may make you ill but what choice do you have

Good advise. Currently there isno evidence of it being passed on via blood, organs etc.... But I think they have put a deferal on people who have juat travelled back from hot spot zones so they can't donate for a few weeks. There is a blood test being trialled at present which shows if the person has ever had coronavirus. Hopefully this will be rolled out soon & then donations don't need to be affected. 🤞
