I have recurrent neutropenia. My doctor has eliminated any vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and any medications that potentially cause neutropenia. I have a hematology appointment in 2 days. What do I need to ask about? Thanks.

You must ask what your cell counts are and what reference levels are being used. "Normal" counts can vary depending on race and ethnicity.
Further to my previous reply this link gives a bit more detail.

It may or may not be relevant to your situation.
Good luck with your appointment.
Thanks for replying. I was aware that some ethnic groups have lower 'normal' but I don't belong to those groups. It is reassuring to read that the important thing seems to be the response of the bone marrow when needed rather than the absolute number at baseline, as my bone marrow seems to respond when challenged and I have very few infections. Thanks again for your response.
Doing a bit more reading it is clear that there are a range of other congenital diseases that cause neutropenia. Most are extremely rare so an onward referral to a haematologist with specialist knowledge may be necessary.
