Yip that's all I am doing, I do take aspirin as I do not want a blood clot! My platelets are pretty stable at 7,000,000. Have ET CALR.
Welcome. I had no choice but to go on drugs. However have also tried to eat slightly more healthily - but still go for everything in moderation approach. All the best. Jacquie
I exercise regularly, (train at a swimming club four times a week, plus gym and spin sessions) also eat healthy. Unfortunately still have to have weekly peg. injections and daily aspirin as over 60 Jak 2+. Advised this makes me high risk, so need meds.
No not really, if go over 1mill I will start medication
Oh and 450,000, is classed as normal.
There’s no doubt a healthy diet, good hydration and regular exercise all help ensure more positive outcomes for MPN patients. Certainly they can have a significant impact on day to day symptoms and the psychological element.
However, I’m not sure there is any research and hard evidence to indicate they can ‘replace’ medication in terms of lowering platelet counts or reducing haematocrit levels.
If you’ve been prescribed a drug intervention like Hydroxy or interferon or even just aspirin I definitely wouldn’t stop taking it without talking to your haematologist first.
