Hi, I have ET CALR, I wonder if I could have your thoughts on my current blood counts.
During my last consultation I was told my white counts are below normal and have been for some months and my red counts are rising, neither of these I was told were a problem at this point.
I am on 90mg weekly Pegasys and my counts are in the 300,s. I have had Pegasys for almost 2 years.
I am due to have my next consultation next week and need to ask some questions.
Could these changes in blood counts be due to Pegasys ?
I feel very tired al of the time.
Thankyou Lynn

Hi Lynn, I have been on Pegasys for over 4 years and it affects all blood counts, not just platelets. My white counts were also a little below normal at certain points. As long as the neutrophils are in normal range it does not seem to be a problem. As my counts stabilised. I reduced my Peg dose over time from 90mcg weekly, to 45mcg weekly, then to every two weeks, and currently to a maintenance dose of 45mcg every 3 weeks. My whites went back to normal range on the lower Peg doses. If your whites keep dropping I would discuss with your haemo lowering your dose to 45mcg/weekly. Rising red counts are not an issue if still within normal range, it could be just normal variation. Good luck! Susana x
Thank you so much for that, it has confirmed what I was thinking, I will ask to reduce the dosage, I actually felt better when my platelets ran a little higher . Lynn x
