I find I fall asleep easily but wake up after 4 hours without fail. Don’t know if it is hydroxy or statins. Jx

HURRAH!! I was only googling this last night 2 am but found no info. At the moment I’m feeling really good. and NORMAL. All week I’ve gone to bed feeling content but after 3 -4 hours sleep I’m awake and really don’t want any more sleep. Last night after laying in bed for a few hours 4am I got up and did ironing within 10 mins my body was crying out for bed. The ironing did the trick. I’ve just looked at the time 8-30am. I’ve slept some more.

I had the same problem when I started on HU five years ago. Now I take one pill in the morning and my sleep is much better. I think you have to try what’s working for you.

Try taking it in the morning. I have done so for 10 years.

Hi, have been on hydroxy for the past 25 years. No ill effects that I have been aware of 👍🏻

Never noticed any difference when on HU with sleep. However, I do have chronic insomnia. If you are JAK2 positive, the overproduction of inflammatory cytokines is thought to be a probable cause of insomnia. Add to that the stress of having a type of blood cancer to deal with and needing to start chemotherapy - the stress alone can cause insomnia.

Hope you get more sleep soon. FYI - if you do need to intervene - I have been using Belsomra with great success. WAY better than other sleep meds without disrupting sleep architecture or other negative side effects.

All the best.

Hi. It may be all the thoughts about taking Hydroxyurea that are keeping you awake or maybe you just react to it this way. When I first started on it, and was very anxious, I read posts from others on here and saw the majority then said they took it at night. So that’s what I do. It doesn’t seem to adversely affect my sleep. But there’s an app for smart phones called ‘Calm’ which actually has recordings of various people reading “bedtime” type stories for people having trouble getting to sleep. If you try it, I’d love to hear what you think. But in the meantime why don’t you switch and take your Hydroxyurea earlier in the day. Just be certain to take it with a lot of water. Katie

If your low on magnesium then your low on B1. Thiamine plays a big roll with sleep disorders and more. Check it out
