Hi,
Over the last few weeks I’ve noticed that my stomach has gotten bloated and hard to the touch. Is this another symptom of PV or should I go to my normal doctor for this one?

Hi,if we only knew..... I think you should talk to one of the docs and they will tell you if it is their area and if not you contact the other.I am not much help here but the docs will help you.Oh,and don't stress about it if you can👌
My medications cause my stomach to bloat
Sometimes when your stomach feels bloated, it could be an enlarged spleen. Either way, you should get it checked out.
Hi Brian, this is a standard symptom of PV/PRV - typically it will go up and down as your illness moves through its various phases. I am 7 years in and I must share that it took a great deal for me to learn to cope with all symptoms. My spleen is now 36cm in size and weighs approx 6kilos in weight, our bodies are so clever at doing things internally to heal itself, I could tell some very interesting things that my organs have done to cope with change. My Oncologist is making real head roads in this space and we are learning more each day by patients like us sharing their symptoms. Amazingly we can get to a total point of acceptance, of all things that shift and change. I wish you great comfort through your learning on your health voyage! I am more than happy to share more with you if you wish/need. Take care of you, Jo from Oz.
Coud be a number of things, but splenomegaly is the most common. Definitely get it checked out. About 6 years ago when my ET progressed to PV, I had a bout with what seemed like gastroparesis/intestinal obstruction. Could have been totally unrelated to the MPN, but it did push me into reactive thrombocytosis due to all the inflammation. Sometimes we have other things wrong with us that do have impact on the MPN and vice versa. If you are JAK2+, then the increased load of inflammatory cytokines can cause all sorts of secondary symptoms. Definitely worth checking out with an MON-expert doc. The challenge is finding one of those since they are so limited even amongst hematologists, All the best to you.
Hi all
Sorry for my absence the last few days. I am feeling a lot better now but have my next haemo appointment in Tuesday so will discuss it with them. It’s quite frustrating because any issues I bring up be it leg pain chest pain fatigue they seem to dismiss and suggest that there is something else wrong with me. I know from asking you guys that my symptoms are normal for PV.
I am in Ireland and don’t really know how experienced my haemo is every time I go for venesection I seem to meet a new person sometimes just the nurse and their sole focus seems to be the numbers.
I would be lost without you guys so thanks for taking the time to respond to my queries.
Brian
