Hi everyone! I'm back on Hydroxy again now ,just a week,up to now and have noticed sharp painful spots on left side lower leg and left forearm only when touched, feels like nerve ending. Is this a symptom of my ET? Seems to have come on after re-starting Hydroxy so wondered if it's a side effect. I also have another worry to share with you......I accidentally bashed my leg on opening the car door with the sharp bottom corner. The place I've damaged is right where the painful part was. In the absence of any literature or guidance for us MPN'ers about injuries like this, I went to A&E who say it's OK when I made them aware of my ET. It caused a cut but more importantly the bruising and red blood under the skin over a large area and swelling caused me to wonder if there are any guidelines for us with MPN's if we injure ourselves . I wonder what happens to the platelets and the blood clotting. Any views would be welcome. I have a dressing and sticky strips on it and see my Practice Nurse on Tuesday for dressing change and to see if it's healing alright. I feel as if my brain isn't working as it should, no co-ordination, and that's how accident happened. If it's not one thing it's another!! Fran

I will speak to the pain when touched. Not sure about the injury part. I go through phases where my skin has burning sensations on certain parts of my arms and legs. These burning pains vary in intensity. When it gets real bad even the hair on my legs if lightly touched causes pain. So some pretty extreme sensitivity. This was going on for the past week or two and I had my blood counts checked yesterday and my hematocrit was 47. I was phlebotomized and the pain is now gone today for the first time in over a week. I can't say for certain that it's due to hematocrit, but it seems very likely the phlebotomy fixed something. I'm on Pegasys which has kept most of my blood counts normalized, but it's struggling to keep my RBC counts under control.
